Spirea Nature Trail

The Spirea Nature Trail is a short, scenic forested trail in Golden Ears Provincial Park. The accessible trail with minimal elevation change s hard packed gravel and crosses a few board walks, circling a peat and sphagnum moss bog.

The trail begins by the wooden map of the area where you walk into the forest along the gravel trail to the right. Within seconds, you reach the junction which is the start and ending point of the loop for the Spirea Nature Trail. Go right and follow the gravel trail as you enjoy the beautiful forest and the closeness of several douglas fir trees to the trail.

The trail crosses its first boardwalk, offering a glimpse of the bog, before returning to the pathway. Round the corner and stay to the left along the loop as you pass the junction with the Alouette Valley Trail. Continue past a second junction as the trail continues through the mossy forest.

Go left at the junction with the bypass trail and walk onto the boardwalk with the best view of the sensitive ecosystem.

After enjoying the view, continue to follow the trail as it passes the junction where the bypass trail rejoins and a short distance further, you arrive back at the beginning where the loop began.
