Survival of the Fittest

Choose from a 13 or 18K race, as well as a kids race for the young ones. The course will be a loop in the Quest University Lands, and features fantastic views of the valley and mountains.

Envision Financial Run for Water

This marathon is Boston-Qualifying and features one of the flattest and fastest courses in BC. Runners also have the option to register for the half marathon, 10k, or 5k fun run. All funds raised go towards helping build clean water projects in some of hte most remote and desolate areas of southern Ethiopia.

This is Canada's largest vegan and vegetarian event. Take in cooking demonstrations from local chefs, find out more about GMO's, and sample and discover products that help you lead a healthy veggie lifestyle. Bring the kids and enjoy the interactive kids zone as well as discover free samples and giveaways.

Scotiabank MS Walk

This walk is in support of the MS Society, and participants can choose from a 2 or 5K route. The route is accessible to wheelchairs, scooters and strollers, as well as dog friendly!

Whistler Half Marathon

Described as 'Canada's most scenic half marathon', this course winds around Whistler Valley and goes along a number of neighbourhoods and parks along the way. Participants can sign up for the 21.1K marathon 10K, 5K or the 1K kids run. Proceeds go to the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of Canada.

Color Me Rad 5K

Color Me Rad is a 5K race where you start out with a white t shirt, and you get blasted with colours and paints until you are covered on the other side. The race is not timed but guaranteed to be a good time. All participants will receive a t shirt, socks, and a colour pack.

2017 RBC Race for the Kids

At RBC Race for the Kids, runners and walkers of all ages and abilities will participate in either a scenic 5k route or a 2k fun run, followed by a carnival celebration with healthy snacks and activities for the whole family.

Since it began in 1986, BC Children's Hospital Foundation's signature running event has raised over $12 million for childhood cancer research and treatment at the hospital. As of last year, funds raised have also gone toward youth mental health initiatives.

We're calling on everyone to join the fun - whether on your own or on a team with your family, colleagues or classmates. Together, we can reach this year's goal of $1 million to help kids across the province.

Reebok Spartan Spirit Vancouver

Spartan Spirit is a highly challenging sprint/obstacle course with over 5K with 15 obstacles along the way. The fastest finish time will be around 30 minutes, and over an hour for the slowest. Kids can sign up for the Spartan Junior portion of the race.

The Rush: Race & Urban Scavenger Hunt

With proceeds going towards the Lung Association, this event features teams of 2 people, scouring the city of Vancouver deciphering clues to complete a number of Checkpoint Challenges at unknown locations. First team to complete the race wins a trip for two around the world.

Seek the Peak

This is a 16K course that includes the quad busting Grouse Grind that you can tackle on your own or in relay teams of four. The race starts from Ambleside Park and ends at the Peak of Vancouver, with funds being raised for the BC Cancer Foundation in support of breast cancer treatment.

Run for H20

The RunForH20 event is a fun run that raises funds for sustainable clean water projects in Guatemala. The local communities are thoroughly educated on how to maintain the water systems, ensuring they have access to clean water for life. There is a 10k, 5k, Kids 1k, and a Toddler dash going along the Riverfront Park trails at 9am.

Vancouver Half-Marathon and 5K

The 5K run/walk starts at the Stanley Park Fish House, while the Half-Marathon starts at the Thunderbird Stadium and a shuttle bus will bring participants back to UBC free of charge. Participants can collect pledges for one of the 70+ charitable partners for this Canada Running Series event.

Canada Day Rock 5/10K

Register for the 10K, 5K, or enter your children into the kid's run at this Canada Day event. Course will be a loop of approximately 200m. Medals will be given to the top male and female runners, and participants will receive a souvenir t shirt and pancake breakfast. Register online.

Get in the spirit of CANADA DAY! Come run the beautiful trails of Pacific Spirit Park at the RUN CANADA DAY 10K/5K and 1K Kids Run and then enjoy a post race BBQ and refreshments and a Canada Day cake in UBC Wesbrook Village. First time on the trails, no problem as we will be having FREE orientation evening runs from the UBC Running Room.

Tynehead 5, 8 and 12 Hour

This race takes a scenic route in a 4K loop around Tynehead Park, and this race features a 5, 8, and 12 hour option. Participants will receive a finishers prize.

Knee Knackering North Shore Trail Run

The knee knacker is aptly named, as the course is 30 miles and has an elevation gain of 16,000 feet. Definitely not one for the faint of heart. Donations will be collected by runners and teams to the North Shore Search and Rescue.

Summerfast 10K Race

The Summerfast 10K is a flat, scenic course through Stanley Park and along the Seawall, and features a post race brunch with fruit, baked goods, coffee and beverages for participants after the race. Medals for the top 3 in each age category.

5 Peaks Cypress Mountain Race

The 4th race of the year for the 5 Peaks running series, the Sports course is 6-8K, and the Enduro course is 10-12K. Awards will be given to the top 3 male and female finishers in each age category at all distances, as well as top 3 male and female finishers overall.

Buckin' Hell

Distances for this race include a 15K short course, 50K ultra course and a 2 person relay race. The course is a very challenging and technical one and is geared towards strong mountain runners.

Fat Dog 120 Trail Race

Fat Dog is an ultra race that has been listed as one of the top 9 toughest ultras by Outside Online. There are 3 different start points and routes, with the toughest (the 48 hour 120 mile) having an elevation gain just under that of Everest. Definitely not for beginners, the routes feature stunning views through 3 provincial parks.

Sea Wheeze Half Marathon

The Sea Wheeze is designed to be not only a run, but a fun filled weekend where participants also get to explore Vancouver, spend time with friends and family, and practise yoga oceanside. The route runs from Stanley Park to False Creek, with hills to test endurance and flat and downhill terrain to build up speed.

PNE Donut Dash 5K

Burn some calories and gain them all back at the same time with this inaugural race, where runners will be treated with donuts, cotton candy and other fairground treats on the course. Proceeds from this race benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada and Heart of Hope. Registration $35, early bird $30.

5 Peaks Whistler Blackcomb Race

The 5 Peaks running series is famous for great climbs and fast descents, and Blackcomb mountain is a great venue for this type of race. Choose from the 6.5k Sport course or the 10.6k Enduro course both of which travel by Blackcomb Lake. There is also a 1k Children's challenge and a 3k timed kids race. Please note that you will need a gondola pass.

This is a very challenging 14 or 23K race set in the Coastal Mountains with breathtaking views, and they are both very challenging courses. Check the list of questions that you must answer before registering for the 23K race on the website.

Half Moon Bay International Marathon

Dubbed '26.2 miles of running heaven', all race courses (full/half marathon, 10/5K) run along the Pacific Ocean coastline with many breathtaking views of local landmarks. The unique course features approximately 70% paved bike trails and 30% packed dirt trails, relatively little elevation change and offers opportunities for fast times. The course is also a Boston qualifier.

Terry Fox Run

The Terry Fox Run takes place all over Canada and other parts of the world, and raises money through donations for cancer research through the Terry Fox Foundation. Visit the link to find a run site for your area and look for volunteer opportunities.

Night Race

Sign up for the 5/10K walk or run in this chip timed race. All runners are required to wear a provided headlight, and proceeds go to Starlight Children's Foundation Canada.

Whistler Alpine Meadows

This is a trail race on recently opened up terrain where runners will be able to see views of alpine meadows, waterfalls, and beautiful mountain views. The trail leads to a glacier and back and the race will be run in 12, 25, and 55K distances.

Trail River Run

The Trail River Run consists of a half marathon, 10K, 5K and 5K junior categories. Participants are required to be a BCA member to participate, or can purchase a one day membership for the race. The out-and-back route is on a 99% soft surface and follows the dyke with fantastic views. Register online or in person.

5 Peaks Buntzen Lake Race

This is the 6th and last race of the year for the 5 Peaks Running Series, with a 10K Sports course and a 15K Enduro course. Awards are given to the top 3 male and female finishers in each category for each age as well as top 3 male and females overall.

Chilliwack Moves

Chilliwack Moves - A Run for Prevention - is dedicated to raising awareness about preventative health by having local health and wellness experts available after the run to provide free tips and education. The run itself will be a 5km and an 8km route located at the Chilliwack Rotary Trail.

Whister 50 Relay & Ultra

This annual event can be completed as an 2, 4, or 8-person 50 mile relay race or a solo ultra-marathon, centred around Whistler Village and the Valley Trail system. 8 person relay legs alternate between 13K and 7K, and 2 and 4 person relay teams alternate with 20k legs. The course is traffic free with minimal road crossings. Approximately 13km of each loop is on a paved trail, and the remaining 7K are on wide, hard packed gravel trails, and no major climbs or descents. The trails will also be open to the public on race day. A portion of the proceeds will go towards supporting local food banks.

Vancouver Rock'n' Roll Half Marathon

Join the race for the 10K (starting in Stanley Park) or the half marathon (starting on Pender and Thurlow). Organized in conjunction with the Health and Fitness Expo, the race will be timed with ChronoTrack timing tags, and there will be live bands along the course playing to jazz you up along the way. Team Recovery is the official charity partner.

Vancouver Fitness Expo by Canfitpro

This personal training and group fitness conference is the largest of its kind in Vancouver. Participants can attend sessions from over 100 presenters as well as experience new programming from numerous different programs as well as new product launches. Hallow's Eve Marathon

This is an annual Hallow's Eve Race, with marathon, half marathon, and 10K races. The courses are challenging, and to up the scary factor there will be awards for best and worst costume, so bring your game face (or scary face, whichever is easier to run in).

Try Events Boundary Bay Marathon

This is the last Boston Qualifying course of the year, and features a flat course with no hills on a gravel ocean side trail. Participate in the full marathon, marathon relay, half marathon walk/run, or 5/10K walk/run. Medals will be given for all 3 top males and females in each distance category.

Phantom Run Trail Race

Run the 12K, 19K, or 24K trails, or walk the 3/6K trail to fundraise. All proceeds go towards North Shore Rescue as well as the Food Bank. Runners are encouraged to dress warmly and be prepared for changing weather. There are technical and non-technical trails, and some steep descents, with a soup potluck waiting at the end.
