The following is a list of outdoor events in Vancouver and the south western British Columbia region, including races, tradeshows, volunteer activities, and more. If you have an event that you feel should appear on this page, please feel free to contact us with the details.

Whister 50 Relay & Ultra

This annual event can be completed as an 2, 4, or 8-person 50 mile relay race or a solo ultra-marathon, centred around Whistler Village and the Valley Trail system. 8 person relay legs alternate between 13K and 7K, and 2 and 4 person relay teams alternate with 20k legs. This year there is a new 50K distance for solo ultra marathon runners! The course is traffic free with minimal road crossings. Approximately 13km of each loop is on a paved trail, and the remaining 7K are on wide, hard packed gravel trails, and no major climbs or descents. The trails will also be open to the public on race day. A portion of the proceeds will go towards supporting local food banks.

Around the Lake Give'r Take 30 Race

This 30K race (give or take) or 2 person relay (16k/14k) loops around Cultus Lake starting at Main Beach. Garments will be given to the first 250 participants, and medals will be awarded to all participants who complete the 30K solo course. The race will be timed with Champion Chip timing. Both solo and relay races are now sold out.

Strachan Hartley 5/10K Legacy Run

Runners, walkers, families, competitive runners and corporate teams of all abilities are all welcome at this 5/10K run. Proceeds go towards making a difference in the lives of youth, and continue the legacy of Dr. Strachan Hartley. Register online or in person on race day.

Try Events Rubber Ducky Half

Circle beautiful Burnaby Lake in this 21.1k & 7 mile course and support the Canucks Autism Network. Medals will be given to the top 3 overall runners, and there will be a by donation Pancake Breakfast to support CAN.

Come join the 5th race in the MEC Greater Vancouver Trail Race series with a choice of 5, 10,, or 21.1k races. The race will be chip timed, and complimentary coffee and fresh fruit will be provided.

Hallow's Eve Marathon

This is an annual Hallow's Eve Race, with marathon, half marathon, and 10K races. The courses are challenging, and to up the scary factor there will be awards for best and worst costume, so bring your game face (or scary face, whichever is easier to run in).

The exhibition includes food stalls, cutting edge health products, services and fitness techniques, as well as exhibitors specializing in diets such as gluten-free, vegan, and non GMO.

Fall Classic at UBC

The Fall Classic is a certified course for half marathon and 10K, and is considered one of the most organized, scenic, and friendly running events in Vancouver. The race is known for amazing routes in the fall colours, great post-race atmosphere with prizes and live entertainment. Proceeds support the Heart and Stroke Foundation of BC.

Try Events Boundary Bay Marathon

This is the last Boston Qualifying course of the year, and features a flat course with no hills on a gravel ocean side trail. Participate in the full marathon, marathon relay, half marathon walk/run, or 5/10K walk/run. Medals will be given for all 3 top males and females in each distance category, and the race supports Ronald McDonald House Charities.

Phantom Run Trail Race

Run the 12K, 19K, or 24K trails, or walk the 3/6K trail to fundraise. All proceeds go towards North Shore Rescue as well as the Food Bank. Runners are encouraged to dress warmly and be prepared for changing weather. There are technical and non-technical trails, and some steep descents, with a soup potluck waiting at the end.

Vancouver Fitness Expo by Canfitpro

This personal training and group fitness conference is the largest of its kind in Vancouver. Participants can attend sessions from over 100 presenters as well as experience new programming from numerous different programs as well as new product launches. There is also the opportunity to get certified in CPR at the conference. Check website for more details.

Run this 5K race in support of Movember (to raise funds and awareness for men's health issues). The race includes a skateboard/longboard division, and there are awards and door prizes at the end.

Vancouver Historic Half

The half marathon, 10K and 5K races are on a loop around the Seawall (the half is a double loop), and all distances receive a finishing medal. Awards are given to top 3 males and females in each age category, and participants will receive a souvenir t shirt as well as a finishing medal. The race supports the West End Coat Harbour Community Policing Centre.

Gunner Shaw Cross Country Race

The Gunner Shaw is a classic Vancouver race known for its challenging, traditional-style cross-country course and for its post-race food and company. The course features six significant hills and is peppered with roots, boulders, branches, rocks, stumps, and puddles. All proceeds go towards Harriers Foundation projects.

Runners will be collecting pledges to support the Salvation Army in this 5K Fun Run or 1K Elf Walk. Enjoy music, prizes, and a complimentary chili lunch at the end of the course.

Knowshow Winter 2019

Knowshow is a bi-annual trade show featuring Canada's top lifestyle, fashion, and action sports retailers and brands. Attendees will find anything from outerwear and eyewear to snowboards and other active gear. Originally attracting mostly west coast businesses, the expo now includes many brands from the east coast as well.

Steveston Ice Breaker 8K Road Race

This Road Race is fun, fast, and flat, and hot soup, pizza, and prizes will be given out after the run. The race runs along a Fraser River certified route, with an 8k for adults and New Balance 1k kids run.

Pacific Road Runners First Half

This annual run is on a very scene 21.1km route that winds around the seawall to English Bay, through Stanley Park and back. The race is the first in the RUNVAN Grand Slam race series and there is a 3 hour finishing time limit.

Fort Langley Historic Half, 10K & 5K

Designed to be one of the most scenic half marathons in the country, the route begins and ends at the Fort Langley National Historic Site. The route is challenging but you will be rewarded with majestic views. The 5K course runs through quiet streets in Fort Langley and is a relatively flat loop.

This is a unique event that combines mountain biking and trail running. Choose to only run, only bike, do a relay, or do both! There are many categories of this race, so you can choose the one that suits you best, whether a beginner or an extreme athlete.

Iron Knee Tender Knee Trail Race

Starting in Cleveland Park, this race finishes on the beautiful shores of Deep Cove. The race includes some great trails leading up to the challenging Powerline Climb.

Whistler Half Marathon

Described as 'Canada's most scenic half marathon', this course winds around Whistler Valley and goes along a number of neighbourhoods and parks along the way. Participants can sign up for the 21.1K marathon 10K, 5K or the 1K kids run. Proceeds go to the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of Canada.

Tenderfoot Boogie Squamish to Whistler

This is an epic race that includes 3 distances, the 50 mile ultra, 50K or 28K. The race starts at sea level and finishes at 2400 ft, with amazing views of the surrounding rivers and canyons. Finish line is at Meadow Park.

Tynehead 5, 8 and 12 Hour

This race takes a scenic route in a 4K loop around Tynehead Park, and this race features a 5, 8, and 12 hour option. Participants will receive a finishers prize.

Knee Knackering North Shore Trail Run

The knee knacker is aptly named, as the course is 30 miles and has an elevation gain of 16,000 feet. Definitely not one for the faint of heart. Donations will be collected by runners and teams to the North Shore Search and Rescue.

Squamish Days 8K

The Squamish Days 8K is the 10th race in the Lifestages Lower Mainland Road Race Series and is a fast, flat route on a paved shoulder that has minimal traffic and is friendly for wheelchair participants. Medals are awarded to the top 3 finishers, and there is also a stroller division available. No walkers, all racers must finish within 80 minutes.

Fat Dog 120 Trail Race

Fat Dog is an ultra race that has been listed as one of the top 9 toughest ultras by Outside Online. There are 3 different start points and routes, with the toughest (the 48 hour 120 mile) having an elevation gain just under that of Everest. Definitely not for beginners, the routes feature stunning views through 3 provincial parks.
