Annual Gibsons Sea Cavalcade Mile

This is a short race but great family event by the sea. The course features no turns and is mainly downhill or flat. $100 each for top male and female runners and a $50 time bonus. Register up to day of race, parade to follow on route.

MEC North Vancouver Trail Race Four: The Smoke Bluffs

Run the 5 or 10K portion of this race and enjoy the nature of the Sea to Sky Highway. Top 3 finishers will be awarded a MEC medal, and coffee, bananas, and massages will be provided at the finish.

Night Nation Run

Billed as the world's first running music festival, the course takes you through illuminated trails, multiple on course DJ stages, and a main stage at the finish. Not for your serious runner, this one is just for fun!

Squamish Days 8K

The Squamish Days 8K is the 10th race in the Lifestages Lower Mainland Road Race Series and is a fast, flat route on a paved shoulder that has minimal traffic and is friendly for wheelchair participants. Medals are awarded to the top 3 finishers, and there is also a stroller division available. No walkers, all racers must finish within 80 minutes.

Fat Dog 120 Trail Race

Fat Dog is an ultra race that has been listed as one of the top 9 toughest ultras by Outside Online. There are 3 different start points and routes, with the toughest (the 48 hour 120 mile) having an elevation gain just under that of Everest. Definitely not for beginners, the routes feature stunning views through 3 provincial parks.

Sea Wheeze Half Marathon

The Sea Wheeze is designed to be not only a run, but a fun filled weekend where participants also get to explore Vancouver, spend time with friends and family, and practise yoga oceanside. The route runs from Stanley Park to False Creek, with hills to test endurance and flat and downhill terrain to build up speed.

Four Lakes 10K Garden Bay

This 10K run takes place on BC's Sunshine Coast, and starts and finishes at Katherine Lake Park in Pender Harbour. The route features gorgeous lake views and long shady sections, and there is also a 3K Family Fun Run/Walk.

PNE Donut Dash 5K

Burn some calories and gain them all back at the same time with this inaugural race, where runners will be treated with donuts, cotton candy and other fairground treats on the course. Proceeds from this race benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada and Heart of Hope. Registration $35, early bird $30.

5 Peaks Whistler Blackcomb Race

The 5 Peaks running series is famous for great climbs and fast descents, and Blackcomb mountain is a great venue for this type of race. Choose from the 6.5k Sport course or the 10.6k Enduro course both of which travel by Blackcomb Lake. There is also a 1k Children's challenge and a 3k timed kids race. Please note that you will need a gondola pass.

Run the Rock Marathon, Half & 8K - Texada Island

The marathon course is a loop course starting and finishing at Shelter Point Regional Park, and the half marathon is a point to point route along the second half of the marathon route. The course will run on the road with no road closures in effect but RCMP will be present. Proceeds will go towards cancer support for residents of Texada. Register online.

This is a 5K paint race that takes place internationally, in partnership with Kidsport. This is the original paint race and is known as the 'Happiest Race on the Planet'. The end of the race features music, dancing, and a massic colour throw.

Annual Coho Run

This 14K race features many of Vancouver's iconic landmarks such as English Bay, the Seawall, Lions Gate Bridge, and Ambleside Beach. The distance is a great challenge for a 10K runner and a great training run for the half marathon runner. At the finish line participants will have the chance to join in the annual Coho Festival celebrating the return of the Coho Salmon to the North Shore. Activities at the Festival include environmental displays, visual arts exhibitions, entertainment and the famous Salmon Barbecue.

Vancouver East Side 10K

This course runs through various streets on a loop around Vancouver's East Side. Because of the City of Vancouver 2 hour time limit on road closures, participants are asked not to enter if they cannot finish the race within the time restriction. Proceeds go towards the Downtown Eastside Women's Centre, Watari Counselling & Support, and the Greater Vancouver Food Bank. This is a Canada Running Series Event.

Race will be a 5 or 10K route on the Traboulay Trail, with coffee, bananas and massages at the finish line. Medals for the top 3 finishers.

Half Moon Bay International Marathon

Dubbed '26.2 miles of running heaven', all race courses (full/half marathon, 10/5K) run along the Pacific Ocean coastline with many breathtaking views of local landmarks. The unique course features approximately 70% paved bike trails and 30% packed dirt trails, relatively little elevation change and offers opportunities for fast times. The course is also a Boston qualifier.

Terry Fox Run

The Terry Fox Run takes place all over Canada and other parts of the world, and raises money through donations for cancer research through the Terry Fox Foundation. Visit the link to find a run site for your area and look for volunteer opportunities.

Night Race

Sign up for the 5/10K walk or run in this chip timed race. All runners are required to wear a provided headlight, and proceeds go to Starlight Children's Foundation Canada.

Whistler Alpine Meadows

This is a trail race on recently opened up terrain where runners will be able to see views of alpine meadows, waterfalls, and beautiful mountain views. The trail leads to a glacier and back and the race will be run in 12, 25, and 55K distances.

Whistler Spirit Run

The goal of the Whistler Spirit Run is to foster healthy communities in the lower mainland by raising funds for BC athletics through donations and scholarship programs. The race is divided into 1K Fun Run, 2/4K Race, 3/6K Women's Race and 8K Men's and 4x2k Relay Race groups. The event is organized to accomodate all levels of athletes from high competitive runners to participants who are just having fun. All events are on mixed-surface trails.

Trail River Run

The Trail River Run consists of a half marathon, 10K, 5K and 5K junior categories. Participants are required to be a BCA member to participate, or can purchase a one day membership for the race. The out-and-back route is on a 99% soft surface and follows the dyke with fantastic views. Register online or in person.

5 Peaks Buntzen Lake Race

This is the 6th and last race of the year for the 5 Peaks Running Series, with a 10K Sports course and a 15K Enduro course. Awards are given to the top 3 male and female finishers in each category for each age as well as top 3 male and females overall.

CIBC Run for the Cure

CIBC's Run for the Cure is hosted by the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, Walk or run the 1K or 5K route, and raise funds for this event which is the largest single day volunteer led event in Canada in support of a cure for breast cancer. Check the website for locations near your city.

MEC Lower Mainland Road Race Series Race Nine Garry Point 5/10/21.1/42.2K

This race takes place in Garry Point Park in Richmond, near the village of Steveston. As usual, the race is chip timed and coffee, bananas, and massages will be provided at the finish line.

Chilliwack Moves

Chilliwack Moves - A Run for Prevention - is dedicated to raising awareness about preventative health by having local health and wellness experts available after the run to provide free tips and education. The run itself will be a 5km and an 8km route located at the Chilliwack Rotary Trail.

Granville Island Turkey Trot

The Granville Island Turkey Trot is a scenic and flat 10K course that starts on Granville Island and loops over the Burrard Bridge to the north side Sea Wall and turns back to end at Performance Works on Granville Island where runners will enjoy a post run meal. Run, walk or stroll the 10K course for thanksgiving, and spend time with family while supporting the food bank during one of the most organized, scenic, flat and friendly events in Vancouver

Whister 50 Relay & Ultra

This annual event can be completed as an 2, 4, or 8-person 50 mile relay race or a solo ultra-marathon, centred around Whistler Village and the Valley Trail system. 8 person relay legs alternate between 13K and 7K, and 2 and 4 person relay teams alternate with 20k legs. The course is traffic free with minimal road crossings. Approximately 13km of each loop is on a paved trail, and the remaining 7K are on wide, hard packed gravel trails, and no major climbs or descents. The trails will also be open to the public on race day. A portion of the proceeds will go towards supporting local food banks.

Vancouver Rock'n' Roll Half Marathon

Join the race for the 10K (starting in Stanley Park) or the half marathon (starting on Pender and Thurlow). Organized in conjunction with the Health and Fitness Expo, the race will be timed with ChronoTrack timing tags, and there will be live bands along the course playing to jazz you up along the way. This personal training and group fitness conference is the largest of its kind in Vancouver. Participants can attend sessions from over 100 presenters as well as experience new programming from numerous different programs as well as new product launches. This is an annual Hallow's Eve Race, with marathon, half marathon, and 10K races. The courses are challenging, and to up the scary factor there will be awards for best and worst costume, so bring your game face (or scary face, whichever is easier to run in).

Try Events Boundary Bay Marathon

This is the last Boston Qualifying course of the year, and features a flat course with no hills on a gravel ocean side trail. Participate in the full marathon, marathon relay, half marathon walk/run, or 5/10K walk/run. Medals will be given for all 3 top males and females in each distance category.

Fall Classic at UBC

The Fall Classic is a certified course for half marathon and 10K, and is considered one of the most organized, scenic, and friendly running events in Vancouver. The race is known for amazing routes in the fall colours, great post-race atmosphere with prizes and live entertainment. Proceeds support the Heart and Stroke Foundation of BC.

Phantom Run Trail Race

Run the 12K, 19K, or 24K trails, or walk the 3/6K trail to fundraise. All proceeds go towards North Shore Rescue as well as the Food Bank. Runners are encouraged to dress warmly and be prepared for changing weather. There are technical and non-technical trails, and some steep descents, with a soup potluck waiting at the end.

Heart of Hope Vancouver Historic Half

The half marathon, 10K and 5K races are on a loop around the Seawall (the half is a double loop), and all distances receive a finishing medal. Awards are given to top 3 males and females in each age category, and participants will receive a souvenir t shirt as well as a finishing medal.
