Great hike! Just be mindful that the road going up is gravel with lots of holes and may be difficult for some cars. The trail runs out of yellow diamonds, so look out for the neon orange strips too.

I accidentally did this hike one summer trying to get to the lake inn flip flops, beer case in hand and inflatable boat.
Neither of us had been here and took directions from a friend "the trail goes up and up then the lake is there".
Turns out we went up and up and up from the wrong trail head and after about an hour ended up high looking DOWN at the lake.
It was certainly a challenge on a hot day and ill equipped, although I believe if you are well prepared this would be a moderate, enjoyable hike.

A nice challenging hike to do in late October. It was colder so bring a coat. Did this trail in the reverse from description in this article starting at the parking lot beside the highway. Started on the riverside trail then transfer to ridge trail on cloudburst drive. Crater rim trail further up on ridge trail. Doing it this way, is you can end at loggers lake then return to highway via riverside trail passing the suspension bridge. Parking lot beside highway has lots of space. Round trip about 4 hours. Time on crater rim is about 2 hours.

Fabulous description as to what to expect. Hiking was varied over different types of terrain and certainly worthwhile.
Did it in 2:05 and felt very successful after completion!

Fantastic hike with my kids (age 10 and 12). So much to see to keep them interested and loved the ups and downs so they never got too tired. The lake was a complete blast. They had fun for 30 minutes jumping in off of a tree. We couldn't park at the small lot as our SUV couldn't get up the big pothole ridden hill just past the Riverside Trail parking lot, so we backed down and walked from there. HIghly recommend this hike for families. Took us about 3 hours, including the walk to and from Riverside parking (1km each way), the hike itself (4.5km), so total of 6.5km. We also spent about 30 minutes at the lake in that time.

This was a great hike, quite challenging in places but with beautiful views over the valleys. The forest trails are gorgeous and you end up back at Loggers' Lake. It took us a good 2.5 hours.

Hiked on 2017.07.22. We forgot to reset our odometer after crossing the bridge. Therefore we parked too early and had to hike the Ridge Trail before rejoining the Crater Rim Trail just around the rock slide area. We then decided to hike counter-clockwise. I like the variety of the trail provides. It's mostly relaxing and yet some sections will make you sweat. We finished the trail in about 2.5 hrs (incl the extra hike on the Ridge Trail).

Enjoyed this hike a lot once we figured out where it started. We spent a lot of time trying to decipher the description of the parking area and the wooden board it starts at. No wooden boards have trail info. Finally realized that the road they’re talking about is closed for construction and you must take the riverside trail to get to the loggers lake trailhead. That trail was nicely wooded with the river next to us most of the way. The trail to loggers lake from the aforementioned unreachable parking area is quite short. Crater Rim trail offers nice views of the lake. It was a solid 5.5miles in and out (including our meandering to figure out how to start!)
