Joffre Lakes Day-Use Passes and Closures for 2024
BC Parks, Líl̓wat Nation and N’Quatqua have partnered to manage Pipi7íyekw / Joffre Lakes Park. With the increased number of visitors to the park, this partnership will help to balance the increased number of visitors to the park with sustaining and conserving the natural and cultural values of the region.
During the 2024 summer season, free day-use passes will be required and there will be a few complete closures of the park.
Park Closures
Joffre Lakes Park will be closed on the following dates in 2024:
- April 30 – May 15 – to support Indigenous-led cultural celebrations, including Stl’atl’imx Days – a celebration of the Declaration of the Lillooet Tribe on May 10, 1911.
- June 14 – 23 – To support summer solstice and Indigenous Peoples’ Day celebrations.
- September 3 – October 6: To support Indigenous fall harvesting practices and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
Day Use Passes
A free day-use pass will be required to access Joffre Lakes starting May 16, 2024. Passes can be reserved beginning at 7am, two days before visiting the Park and can be done online via BC Parks’ website.
There will be 500 day-use passes and 26 tent pad spaces available to reserve each day throughout the summer season during the opening times.

While I agree with day pass, I believe 500 is too much. I have been at the lakes a few times and what catches my attention is how people are unprepared and uneducated to be in such environment.
Start with education and reduce that number to 200-250.
