Becoming a place for aggressive homeless people sleeping in the towers and assaulted an elderly man on 44th avenue this week, they have been living there for months. Ducks unlimited has dropped the ball and not maintained this park in the last few years, I use to walk there after work but no more. Too bad the wildlife is beautiful and the grasslands. July 2024

This park is 7 minutes away from us and we love it for our weekend walks! In the colder months it's rarely busy. Beautiful scenery along the Nicomekl.

Wow, so many bad reviews for this place but I notice they're from years ago. I think the City must have read the negative reviews on here and REALLY cleaned up the park. I visited on Father's Day and was blown away by the beauty. It was sunny and surprisingly quiet! Hardly anybody walking there and saw zero dogs. Also didn't see a single piece of trash except in the bins provided. Didn't see a single piece of dog poop but it did smell like manure. However, that's to be expected when you're walking through farm fields! I really like this place. Absolutely gorgeous!! It was very peaceful but yes, you do hear the highway traffic at some parts. But that's also to be expected since this is in the middle of civilization! Don't let the bad comments scare you off. The park definitely has cleaned up.

Disappointed in this trail. Parking lot has been permanently closed since April 2019 and this website did not disclose this, so we had to park at art knapp. The road access is unlevel and incredibly muddy so it wasnt super stroller friendly. About half way down the trail, just past the first wooden lookout tower, there was a terrible stench. Smelled liked something died and was rotting nearby. Tons of highway noise during our entire walk. Didnt feel like the peaceful wildlife refuge we were expecting. Dont waste your time!

Beautiful park. Tons of wildlife. Look out for Seals in the river and eagles perched in the trees

Tough to rate this place. I would give it a 5/5 for it's purpose. I would give it a 0/5 for all the DOG POOP. Geeze people, pick it up! I have no idea how much I kicked to the side. People you are such lazy pigs! I am not counting the wild animal poop (e.g. berries in it). Dogs should be banned (or at least the people with the dogs) from this area, especially the side where the look out towers are. Otherwise, it is a great natural treasure area for the intended purpose.

Went for a walk here on Mother’s Day afternoon. The park was quiet people-wise and pleasant. Other posters have commented on the smell which they attributed to dog feces. Not so - they were smelling farming - maybe fertilizer and barns. Yes, sometimes very noticeable but that’s what you get in the country! Pretty vistas though highway noise was also noticeable. Would recommend and suitable for all ages.

This park is covered with dog faeces and numerous large dogs that are unleashed. Small children will be at considerable risk. I was personally threatened by a large dog. Scared the hell out of me.

A very nice place for a morning stroll , was super dissapointed to see the trash cans overflowing two days in a row considering this is meant to be a nature park !! Alot of comments on the dog pooh , i think you would be surprised to know its probably coyote pooh as theres alot of berries in it !!! Still noticed a few dogs off leash though !!!

place is disgusting now, what was once a beautiful ecosystem is now ruined but arrogant dog owners allowing there dogs to swim and pollute the waters that many birds would swim and hang out in. also dog crap everywhere place reeks of dog feces.
have also found many dead birds due to the same issue of dogs attacking the wildlife
such a shame because it use to be such a beautiful spot to clear your mind

Went for a jog here with my daughter. We were greeted by an overflowing trash can at the trail start. Further down the trail past the wooden fort there was dog poo ALL over the place. All you could smell while running was dog poo. The garbage can at the fort was also overflowing. This used to be a nice place to go, now it is totally disgusting. What happened??

Took my dog for a walk here today and lucked out with really great weather. We saw lots of wildlife along the way and the autumn colours were beautiful. There were several signs along the way reminding dog owners to keep their pets leashed and thankfully every dog we encountered was on leash. However, like other people have said, there was lots of poop left on the trails. It was also grown over in some spots and there were a couple forks in the trail that could have used better signage. Overall a good experience!

We went for a walk there today. As noted by other comments here, it's a great place for irresponsible dog owners who don't care to stoop and scoop - and only a couple of the dog owners we saw there respected the "keep dogs on leash" sign - we even saw one large dog chase a bird into the water, much to it's owners' amusement. It's was difficult to enjoy the scenery when it was necessary to constantly watch out not to step into dog poo. Lovely place gone to the dogs (see other comments). Enjoyed checking it out but won't be going back.

Nice area to walk and birdwatch. Like that there are many signs telling people to keep their dogs on leash. However, dog walkers that go there obviously can't read! Have met up with many dog owners with off-leash dogs. Even when I politely mention that they are in a wildlife management area, and to kindly leash their dogs, they are indifferent and even rude! I would NOT suggest this place as a place for non-dog people or people who just want to enjoy the wildlife. Lots of dog poo on the ground. It should be renamed Serpentine Off-Leash Dog Walk Area. It is definitely NOT a wildlife management area! So sad!

One of the few trails on an open space but so Badly managed!
There is only one Bench available by an open view so the "Engineers" decided to
put an Info Sign in front of the bench! blocking the view! It's either that the Engineers wanted to have some fun with this or their IQ was the IQ of a banana. I used to sit on that bench watching and photographing the Ducks and relaxing. Now I pass by and feel like ripping that sign out. What a shame!
