I agree with @Michelle that it's too difficult to write good directions about this area. Just walk around and enjoy the trails and you'll either end up exiting the bowl (in which case, walk back) or, you'll end up back at a path where you began. This area could really benefit with the city adding a few signs at trail junctions.
Still, it's a really nice mix of trails and was perfect for our kids. Not too difficult but difficult enough for them to let off some steam and enjoy nature.

The family and I came out here and had a great first walk/ hike of the season. Nice, easy trail for little ones, with different terrains and sights to see.
Our comment is about the trail directions you've included. They're a bit terrible! Not that I could do better, I don't think. Problem is that the trails aren't marked. I was so frustrated with looking at my phone for directions that I gave up and we just walked around and down and in and around and it was great. Wish there was signs or maps or markers around.
Thank you for getting us out there!

I'm only a short walk from Downes Bowl. And while I agree with the other posters, re: lack of directional trail markers, it's not that difficult to find your way around. Basically, stay on the main trails and you can't go wrong. There is much to see and it makes one forget you are still in the city.
