DO NOT FEED THE BIRDS from Vancouver writes:
Short + relatively easy hike with a huge reward. The view at the lookout is beautiful. However, saw 2 ladies and 1 child feeding wild birds including 2 WILD RAVENS raw peanuts. Feeding wildlife harms them and the ecosystem. If they become reliant on human food, they won't eat (or will eat less of) what they're supposed to from the natural environment. Raw peanuts also contain a carcinogen that damages the birds' livers.

Just did this hike Feb 10, 2019 in snowshoes, though a number of folks were on the trail with crampons or just boots and poles. Beautiful, well marked trail. Lots of snow on the mountain, and was snowing fairly heavily during our stay. The lookout was snowed in so no view, but a nice walk nonetheless. Make sure to get a free Back Country Access pass at the Black Mountain Lodge before you head out on the trail, they have a self registration area you just need to grab a yellow sticker from.

Did this one the way up Mt. Strachan, nice view, wouldn't recommend it as your final destination but worth checking out if you are on your way to Strachan or St. Marks.

The fantastic view from the lookout is rewarding after gaining elevation. Not to be attempted with a stroller! We went with a 5-year old child, complaining about the steep portions of the trail. But could be ok if a friend of same age comes along, would be more fun.
