While phyiscal fitness is important, hiking can also be done as a means to become physically fit. All trails have different degrees of difficulty, from short, flat walks through park land to steep inclines that climb up into the alpine areas of the surrounding mountains.

You should ensure to choose a hike that meets your level of fitness and if you find it is too much after starting, turn back before it becomes more difficult. It is also self-rewarding to challenge yourself by setting goals and working your way up to a fitness level where you can complete one of the more difficult hikes later in the season.
