Not a hiker. Surprised by two hills- more than described here- so be aware the gravel and boardwalks are about 2/3, with 1/3 curvy ups and downs and two short-duration hills. Those with knee issues may find the descends a little steep-- but they are short. No places to stop and rest; perhaps the 3 viewpoints have benches. Lots of variety on the trail types: bridges, dam, marsh, forest, shady and sunny. I did the full trail in 50 minutes at an enjoyable steady hoof. If you are thinking of doing it, try it out! You can always turn around and enjoy the view from the other direction.

I went there on 12/07/2017. It was a sunny day. The lake is so beautiful. In addition, there is a little climb on the trail but it’s not too extreme. Anyway, I took 2.5 hrs to walk around the lake, and it’s a great chance to catch some amazing views!

Not too crazy about this hike. A very easy and quiet hike. It's actually the ferry ride and the walk along the city that made this great for me. I love the feel of the island. The trail itself is nice but there's much better ones in the north shore.

The hike is easy and absolutely beautiful. I went on a very rainy day in March and the different shades of green looked stunning. It it very well marked now and you don't need to print out the description. Signs and maps are plenty. It took 3 hours - more strolling than hiking. ☺️

Lovely light walk - we did it in about 1.5 hrs. Some of paths are not well-marked on-site, so if you want to stay with the tour as far as this website describes it, print off a copy of the map and the directions. It came in handy. When you get to the lake, if you follow the loop counterclockwise, there is a bit of a climb for about 10-15 minutes at the beginning, but nothing ridiculously strenuous.

this is a great trail but i found that its a lot of hills and rocky paths after the gravel road. me and some friends got to the picknic area in about 2 hours and saw some of the best sights that were barely touched by man
