How do I handle bathroom needs on the trail?

For liquid waste, move well off trail and away from water sources. For solid waste, dig a 15–20 cm (6-inch) cathole at least 70 paces (about 60 m) from trails, campsites, and water, and pack out all toilet paper in a ziplock. In alpine and high-use areas, carry a WAG bag and pack all waste out — thin alpine soils cannot break down human waste.
