Can I bring my dog hiking?

On some trails, yes — but rules vary by jurisdiction. Many trails and parks require dogs on leash at all times and prohibit them from some areas entirely. Municipal and regional parks have a patchwork of on-leash, off-leash, and no-dog rules. Some popular parks, such as Joffre Lakes and Garibaldi Provincial Park do NOT allow dogs. Always check the specific trail’s rules on Vancouver Trails or the managing park’s page before you go.
