Will I see a cougar on a Vancouver area hike?

Cougar sightings are rare on busy trails but do occur, particularly in the Fraser Valley, Sea-to-Sky, and Sunshine Coast. If you meet a cougar: never run, never turn your back, never crouch. Make yourself look large, maintain eye contact, back away slowly, and keep children and pets close. If it attacks, fight back with everything you have, targeting the eyes and face.
