Wedgemount Lake Trail
Location: Garibaldi Provincial Park
Photo Date: August 2017
Description:
It was a pretty smoggy day in Vancouver, and I hoped it would be better somewhere higher, like at Wedgemount Lake. But actually, It turned out, that the oxygen index was worse in Whistler area. For me, hike to Wedgemount Lake is every year tradition in August, and I didn't want to skip it this time. The route was much tougher because of the smog and high temperature, dust and big amount of flyes. At some points, the smog was so dense that it painted beautiful green slopes in grey and blue tones. The red sun through the endless forest gave such a feeling of the apocalypse. This hike physically is hard, and this time it was much harder even psychologically. Being in love with film photography, I tried to show the dramatic views because of the smog using the grain and unique colours of the film, and how it changed the nature and beauty of the Wedgemount Lake.
