A great hike for beginners to break into the hiking addiction. Although it makes for a full day trip simply due to driving (3 hrs each way to and from Vancouver), a relatively easy trail gives access to 3 amazing lake views and the Matier Glacier. Pictured is Upper Joffre Lake, the largest of the three. The views are comparable to the more difficult Garibaldi Lake and Wedgemount Lake trails, but with a much more forgiving elevation gain. Due to its easy access and trail, Joffre Lakes are usually quite busy with lots of tourists. Once exposed to these amazing views, new hikers will be left craving more.
