My best friend and I had been planning this hike for weeks -- anticipating a quiet trail with stunning views of the Fraser Valley to set up camp and enjoy the last days of summer. As the smoke rolled in, our views rolled out but we were left with a moody backdrop resembling a peaceful smoky abyss.
