Emma Lake Trail
Location: The Sunshine Coast, Powell River, BC
Turn off Highway 101 at either Dixon Road or the Goat Lake Main. Note access is restricted to evenings/weekends! Follow Goat Main all the way past the head of Goat Lake and pass the 34 mile marker. Look for B branch angling sharply up to the right, marked for Emma Lake but the sign is often obscured by luxuriant growth. From this point on 4WD is required. Follow B branch up the valley, keeping the creek below you to your left. There is a stream crossing that can be tricky if you don't have high clearance. After about 4 km (note this is a distance based on memory), the road curves round to the right and climbs to the trail head, where there is parking for several vehicles. The drive in will take about 2 hours.

Description:
This photo is a 360 degree panorama, with a 16 photograph stitch. I set up a tripod to achieve accurate heights for this photo. I wanted this photo document to be a panorama and for me to be in it to be able to show my kids that anything is possible if you want to conquer something to just set your mind to it. This was the highest hike of my life and loved every minute of it.
