BC Parks Camping

On June 1st, many Provincial Parks campgrounds and back-country camping in BC will re-open. The reservation system has opened as of Monday, May 25th at 7:00am via https://www.discovercamping.ca/bccweb/

Preferential access to camping will be given to BC residents for the 2020 season. Non-BC residents with existing reservations can receive a full refund of their existing reservations before June 15th.

Campsites will have made adjustments to ensure physical distancing such as additional spacing between campsites and will limit the number of guests.

Parks that attract large crowds will remain closed and might open at a later date when it’s deemed to be safe. Backcountry campgrounds in some parks with a high day use will also remain closed.

Tunnel Bluffs Trail Update

Tunnel Point Update from March 11, 2020:

A 30-minute parking restriction near the trailhead to the popular Tunnel Bluffs trail has been put in place. The Ministry of Transportation (Facebook | Twitter) and Sea To Sky Highway Investments (Facebook | Twitter) put up the 30-minute parking signs at the Tunnel Point parking area on March 9, 2020. They would also like to remind the public that parking along the Sea To Sky Highway is not permitted and crossing the highway is illegal.

Unfortunately, these restrictions make the Tunnel Point route to Tunnel Bluffs inaccessible.

Grouse Grind Opens

The Grouse Grind will open at 6:15am, Wednesday, May 2nd for the start of the 2018 summer season. Hikers should expect some snow near the upper portions of the trail but will be able to hike to the top of Grouse Mountain and take the Skyride Gondola back down. The trail will be open until 6:00pm daily but the closing times will change throughout the summer as day-light hours become longer and again, when the day-light hours shorten.
