Lower Fraser Valley
The Lower Fraser Valley region is a large area located sound and southeast of Vancouver along the shores of the Fraser River. The Fraser River is the largest river in the province of British Columbia and the Lower Fraser Valley region spans the last section of the river from the town of Chilliwack to Richmond.
Chilliwack is home to the Cultus Lake, a popular camping and recreational area located about 90km east of Vancouver. Quieter and just as beautiful is the Chilliwack Lake where hiking trails meander through old growth forests to other nearby lakes, such as Lindeman Lake.
Although the Fraser Valley largely consists of low-lying farmland, a lot of hiking trails are located in the surrounding mountain areas. Hikes can be grueling but mountain top views are scenic, offering stunning views of the valley below.
