Sea to Sky Highway Reopened

Date: August 2, 2008

The Sea to Sky Highway has been reopened after being closed for four days due to a large rock slide near Porteau Cove. The rock slide occured on Tuesday and has made accessing the communities of Squamish, Whistler, and Pemberton difficult. The cleanup went quicker then expected since a lot of rocks were pushed into Howe Sound and heavy machinery was already nearby working on highway upgrades.

The forcast for the last two days of the long weekend is expected to be warm and sunny and those looking to do a hike can consider options near Squamish or Whistler, such as The Chief or Garibaldi Lake.
